Clothed In Divinity | Charis Israelson
Can you truly change yourself? We try through New Year's resolutions, self-help books, and sheer willpower, but here's the truth: we can't strip away our old selves on our own. Just like Eustace in The Chronicles of Narnia couldn't remove his dragon skin by himself, we need Christ to transform us from the inside out.
Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:9-11 that we've "taken off the old self" and "put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." This isn't about behaviour modification—it's about a complete identity transformation. God clothed Himself in humanity at Christmas so we could be clothed in divinity.
The rhythm of worship is simple: God reveals Himself, we respond in repentance, He transforms us, and we bear His image to the world. There's no division in Christ—no Jew or Gentile, slave or free. When we see others, we must see image-bearers of God, even our enemies.
What's your next step? Will you surrender? Receive forgiveness? Love others as Christ loved you?
